The 2026 Jones Mind Expander is a mind-expanding experience that blends freestyle, freeride, and surf style into one beautiful snowboard. Packed to the brim with Jones tech, the Mind Expander is designed to take the seriousness and aggression out of freeriding, while still staying performance focused across a wide variety of terrain. Jones have collaborated with legendary surf shaper Chris Christenson and built the Mind Expander for any creative rider who likes to blend the worlds of freestyle, freeride and surf style snowboarding. Camber under foot and rocker in the tip and tail gives you better edge hold under any condition while the stance was moved forward 2cm for better carving. The unique shape of the Mind Expander isn't just for looks, with the blunted full size tail offering the nimble manoeuvrability of a directional snowboard, with the freestyle ability of a directional twin.

Board Type: Freeride-Powder

Freeride snowboards are built for steeper, off-piste terrain. These boards are ideal for aggressive riding and usually for more advanced riders.

Powder snowboards are designed for deep snow. Generally these boards feature a directional shape with a tapered tail for better float and ease of riding.

Flex: 6/10 (1=soft, 10=stiff)

Offering a balanced blend of flexibility and stiffness, mid-flex boards are versatile and suitable for all-mountain riding. They provide enough responsiveness for carving while maintaining some forgiveness for playful or casual riding.

Ability Level: Intermediate

Intermediate snowboards offer more responsiveness and stability at higher speeds, with a slightly stiffer flex for better control on varied terrain and more advanced manoeuvres.

Shape: Tapered Directional with High 3D Contour Base

A tapered directional snowboard features a shape where the tail is narrower than the nose, providing enhanced control and stability in deeper snow. This design improves floatation in powder and allows for smoother turns, making it ideal for freeride and backcountry riding. While it excels in one direction, the taper helps the board naturally guide you through challenging conditions.

A freeride-driven 3D Contour Base with a 7mm spoon bevel in the nose and up to 7mm in the tail, starting just before the contact points.

Camber Type: Directional Camber/Rocker

Jones' Directional Camber/Rocker profile incorporates camber throughout the body of the board with rocker in the nose. This keeps the board nice and responsive and powerful while enhancing float and manoeuvrability in deep snow, perfect for freeriding or in powder. 

Width: Standard

Standard width boards deliver exceptional edge-to-edge quickness and responsiveness while providing enough platform space for riders with average boot sizes.

Inserts: 2x4 Inserts

These offer a tighter hole pattern, allowing for more precise stance adjustments. They're common on modern boards and ideal for riders who want fine-tuned positioning and can be used with any binding with a standard or mini disk.

Laminate: Biax Fiberglass, BComp Carbon Flax Stringer with Bio Resin

A dual-layer, multi-directional fiberglass laminate created for a lively yet forgiving ride, offering a balanced blend of mid-soft torsional flex and responsive energy transfer.

BComp Carbon Flax stringers deliver the ideal mix of power and control—carbon adds serious pop, while flax smooths out vibrations and keeps harmful emissions lower than full carbon designs.

This plant based resin is more environmentally friendly than traditional petroleum based epoxy that has unmatched bonding properties for increased performance and less weight.

Core: Boost Core

The Boost Core is made of responsibly harvested Bamboo, Paulownia, and Poplar. The Bamboo stringers are placed along the sidecut for durability, torsional stiffness, and response while the Paulownia and Poplar keeps the core light and damp.

Sidewall: Recycled ABS Sidewalls

Jones makes their sidewalls out of a recycled ABS material with a round finish. This increases durability by deflecting impact away from the sidewall preventing chipping and cracks.

Edge: Recycled Edges

Made of recycled German steel, these bombproof edges are made to be the strongest and longest lasting on the market.

Base: Sintered 8000 Base

A top-tier sintered base that’s incredibly fast, soaks up wax for lasting glide, easy to repair, and built for unmatched durability.
