Twos Turning Three Class
Saplings
The Saplings class meets from 9:15 am until 11:45 am with a choice of two-five weekly attendance days (subject to availability).
Our Saplings class consists of young children who learn the experience of safety, joy and fun in a space without their caregivers. They establish friendships, explore new types of play, and enjoy having some independence in a developmentally appropriate classroom. Teachers provide a loving and nurturing environment where children can expand their horizons.
During morning exploration, we encourage children’s interests to guide their play choices. Our learning areas include our artist studio, sensory table, storytelling board, small worlds, blocks play, science and nature table, dramatic play/kitchen, and our cozy library space. We combine high quality open-ended materials with developmentally appropriate toys to encourage expanding on imagination and wonder. We integrate inspiring photographs and literature throughout the space. All of the stations are multi-sensory and curated to facilitate experimentation and discovery. Teachers actively play and learn with the children. We ask encouraging and process-oriented questions and make observations of the children’s interests to guide our emergent curriculum. Themes, projects, and materials are guided by the curiosities we observe. The children lead our journey.
